A little book by Shohrab Jahan

This book is a piece of cake with some drawing and text. The text is like a puzzle game also, the drawing is a little the same. This is a published book in 2016 as an artwork of Cheragi Art Show 5. and showed in a book shop name Batighor book shop in Chittagong (Now also in Dhaka and Sylhet). Now I will make the book again with some new text and image trashing items from some previous one. Previous one’s inside was made by KPM paper was suddenly found in an old paper shop. I am not sure what can be this time. Maybe a new test of small cake.

Shohrab Jahan (Book Bakery initiator and curator)

Shohrab Jahan is a founder member of Jog Art Space and work as a lecturer in the Institute of Fine Arts in the University of Chittagong where he was trained as a sculptor, his artistic practice is no longer confined to three-dimensional art. He sculpts with text using various material and medium, including moving images, to create fictional stories. Some of his stories engage with history, others have social references. He worked as an artist, curator, product designer in Cheragi Art Show from (2011-2021). He participated in National Art Exhibition (2011,2013, 2017); Asian art Biennale 2016. Did residency in Kathmandu, Nepal (2013), Pica Studio 2018), and The University of York, UK (2019), Kampala, Uganda is with Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Art.

His solo art project “Tiger Still Pass at Tiger Pass” (2016) started as a site-specific happening which culminated in an indoor show. “A Landscape Activity” (2017) is a site-specific fictional story. Royal Bengal, published by Batighor (2016), is part of his sculpture named, A Royal Bengal Cat, Sitting on A Royal Bengal Table, In Front of a Royal Bengal TV, Watching A Royal Bengal Tiger Cry.
